Carmen “Pinky” Valdés, PhD

President

Is the first lay President of Assumption College, Philippines. She has an extensive background in Spirituality, Retreats, Education, Corporate Executive Development, Family Counseling, and facilitation of transformational leadership programs. She was the former Dean of Assumption College Marie Eugenie School of Innovative Learning, Creative Director of Marie Eugenie Theater of the Assumption (METTA) and adjunct professor at Loyola School of Theology (LST) Ateneo, and a Theology professor at the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU). She is presently the President of Sacred Springs at Loyola School of Theology.

She is called upon for innovative and “out-of-the-box” challenge-solving. The professional experience of Dr. Valdes ranges from Vice President of Human Resources at Steelcase/Metro, HR Director at The Gap in San Francisco, to Director at Ayala Corp. in Manila, and Marketing Director at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, and Manager of Ballet Philippines. Dr. Valdes has been on the lecture circuit for Leadership Development in Southeast Asia, California and the Philippines. Her forté is in the field of spirituality, Life Coaching of adults and teen-agers and Executive Coaching for corporate professionals and teacher training.

Book Release: Over the last 10 years, Dr. Valdes, has done in-depth individual counseling and lecturing in the realm of protecting women from abuse whether sexual, physical and/or psychological. “Educating Women Leaders,” released by Anvil Publishing Inc., 2018, where she speaks and counsels women. She is credible because it comes from her own transformative experience. She has turned her own trauma into a healing experience for others.

Education: Dr. Valdes holds two Master’s Degrees: one in Educational Management from De La Salle University Manila, and another in Theology from University of San Francisco. She completed her Doctorate in Philosophy from GTU/UC Berkeley, California.

Awards: Among her awards are: the first awardee of the “Bravo Empowered Women for Education from Zonta in Recognition of Her Unwavering Commitment to Leadership and Service,” and Zonta’s “International Award 2019.” She was given “Speaker of the Year by Makati Rotary.” She was one of the first two to receive the “International Marie Eugenie Award” at the Sala Nervi in Vatican, Rome 2008. She was a recipient of a Professorial Chair from Loyola School of Theology, Ateneo de Manila University.

Musical Awards and Releases: Dr. Valdes has two Platinum Musical Awards from PARI for music she composed with Mr. Jose Mari Chan. She has three CDs of her own inspirational music: “I See the Dawn,” “Sandalwood” and “Sandalwood Seasons.”
