Sacred Springs Director Carlo Garcia, Ph.D., has been elected as the new President of Green Convergence (GC) for Safe Food, Healthy Environment and Sustainable Economy. GC is a coalition of networks, organizations and individuals working for a development paradigm that addresses the need for social and economic upliftment, while preserving life-supporting water, air and land for generations to come.
Dr Garcia is the Executive Director of the Environmental Studies Institute, and the Chair of the Environment Department of the Higher Education Unit of Miriam College. His areas of interest include Environmental Education, Eco-Spirituality, Community-based Forest Management, and Sustainable Development.
He was elected President of GC during the Board of Trustees meeting on October 29, following the General Assembly and the election of three new members of the Board. Incumbent members Mark Tinao was elected Vice-President, while Clarissa Magsarili and Leonor Berroya retain their positions as Secretary and Treasurer, respectively.
