Holds a doctoral degree from the University of Pennsylvania. During her tenure at the Department of Language and Literature at Ateneo de Manila University, she co-founded the Ateneo Center for Language Teaching (ACELT) and the Ateneo Library of Women’s Writings (ALIWW). A feminist scholar, she has published 16 books, most of them focused on Filipino women writers in English.
